Dalmatian Granite vessel

This unique sculptural vessel was hand-built in the studio from a white stoneware clay and glazed with a mix of materials collected around the studio including clay, granite, ashes and sand. The glaze moves on the piece flowing in various shades of brown and red, and crawls on the rim to reveal the white clay underneath createing a mottled aspect, which gave the pieces its name. It has very subtle hints of blue where the materials react to create a reflective streak, giving the piece multiple dynamic angles. It features a classical yet modern shape and works both as a sculptural piece or as a vessel for flower arrangements.
